Poetry of the Week

Cancer by Allison Handberg

You cant see the faint darkness in the hall
because the killer silently creeps against the wall,
invisible to your eyes
carrying secret lies.
on the outside nothings wrong
the inside pain prolongs,
doctors cant find a cure  to treat this horrible fear
nothing about it can be pure just hang in there my dear.
Its flowing thru their helpless body
all we know its a selfless disease,
walks are created around the world
to help find a cure for this painful swirl.
Its name is cancer ending with a loved one
they dont have much time left as they surrender to the awful test
finding that you cant fake a smile,
even just for a while.
You know its time for them to leave.
even tho you cant believe,
sorrow fills your eyes with tears
as your loved one dissapears.
you memorize their last few lines
taking their favoriet pines,
you slip into the sleepy night
a tear falls down your face and opens you up to the light…
